Effective date: September 22, 2026 · Applies to the invite-only beta
By using Inkstone, you agree to the terms below and to our Privacy Policy. The terms are short, so please read them in full; if anything is unclear, write to us.
01What the service is, and what the beta means
Inkstone is a web-based research workbench: project files, LaTeX compilation, an AI assistant, reference management, pre-submission checks and version control. The service is provided by the Inkstone project team and has two sites: the Singapore site (lab.vibescience.net) and the China site.
The service is currently in an invite-only beta. This means:
only people invited by an admin can use it;
features will change often and may be added, changed or removed;
we do our best to keep the service available, but we make no commitment to any availability level, and the service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance or outages;
we back up daily, but data may still be lost because of failures. Please regularly download your important files and keep your own copy.
02Account
Accounts are created, and team spaces assigned, by an admin. Please use your real name and an email address at which you can receive mail.
Your account is for you alone; do not lend it to others or share it among several people. Keep your password and API keys safe—anything done with your account or keys counts as done by you.
If you find that someone else may have used your account, change your password immediately and write to tell us.
03Your content
The content you upload and write belongs to you (or to its original rights holder); we claim no ownership of it.
To provide the service, you authorize us to process this content to the extent necessary: storing, backing up and compiling it, sharing it with others according to your settings, and passing it to AI providers for processing when you use AI. This authorization is solely for providing the service and ends when the service is terminated or the content is deleted (backups are rotated out and deleted on the schedule set out in the Privacy Policy).
You must ensure that you have the right to upload and process this content, including passing it to third-party AI for processing. For material covered by a confidentiality agreement, or involving unpublished data or other people’s personal information, please first confirm that it may be used in this way.
04AI-generated content
The AI’s answers, and the content it writes or modifies, may be wrong: it may miscalculate or misunderstand, and it may fabricate references, data or citations that do not exist. Please verify it yourself before use, especially references and experimental results.
The AI can modify files in your project directly. If it breaks something, you can recover it from the version history; before important changes, please save a snapshot first.
When writing with AI, follow the rules of your institution and of the journals and conferences you submit to (for example, whether it is allowed and whether it must be disclosed in the text). You are responsible for authorship and academic integrity.
To the extent permitted by law, AI-generated content is yours to use and we claim no rights in it; however, we do not guarantee that it does not infringe the rights of others.
05Acceptable use
Please do not use Inkstone to:
create, upload or distribute content that violates the laws and regulations of your location (on the China site, you must also comply with the relevant laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China);
infringe other people’s copyrights, patents, trade secrets or personal information;
attack or interfere with the service: scanning, load testing, circumventing quotas, attempting to escape the AI’s sandbox, or obtaining other people’s data or the service’s credentials;
resell or rent out the service or your account, or use it to generate spam or junk content in bulk;
harass or impersonate others.
To comply with the law, messages sent to the AI first pass through a sensitive-content moderation check: sensitive topics are blocked, are not passed to the AI, and are logged as described in the Privacy Policy. Moderation can make mistakes; if you think something was blocked in error, please tell an admin.
If you discover a security issue in the system, please write to tell us; do not disclose it publicly and do not exploit it.
06Quotas
Admins set limits for each account on AI usage (tokens per day and per month) and on storage space. Once a limit is reached, the AI is paused until the next period, or until an admin adjusts the limit. Usage limits on the AI providers’ side may also make the AI temporarily unavailable.
07Third-party services
AI features are provided by third parties: Anthropic (Claude) on the Singapore site and DeepSeek on the China site; reference search uses public databases such as OpenAlex, Crossref and Semantic Scholar. Their availability and results are outside our control. For exactly what information is shared with them, see the Privacy Policy.
08Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service at any time and write to us to request deletion of your account and all of your data.
If you violate these terms, or to protect the security of the service and other users, we may restrict or deactivate your account; where circumstances permit, we will tell you the reason first.
When the beta ends or the service undergoes a major change, we will try to give 30 days’ notice in advance and allow time for you to export your data.
09Disclaimer and limitation of liability
During the beta, the service is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for: service interruptions or data loss, errors in AI-generated content, problems with third-party services, or indirect losses arising from them (such as a missed submission deadline). Liability that cannot be excluded by law is not affected by this section.
10Governing law and dispute resolution
Singapore site: governed by the laws of Singapore; disputes that cannot be resolved through negotiation shall be submitted to a court of competent jurisdiction in Singapore.
China site: governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China (excluding the laws of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions); disputes that cannot be resolved through negotiation shall be submitted to a people’s court of competent jurisdiction.
If there is a dispute, please write to us first; we will handle it seriously.
11Changes and contact
When these terms are changed, the changes will be published on this page and the effective date at the top will be updated; significant changes will also be announced separately by email. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means that you accept the revised terms.
